Evaluating International Transcripts & Course descriptions for PharmD Entry-to-practice program - Faculty of Pharmacy (Undergraduate)
Once you have applied, your application will be reviewed by an admissions advisor in the Office of the Registrar. Your transcripts and course descriptions will be assessed during the admission cycle once you've submitted and paid for the application fee. Unfortunately this is not something they do ahead of time because international transcripts are quite unique and take time to review. You are welcome to use the U of A Transfer Credit Search tool to see if credit has been granted from your international institution in the past. This can help you get an idea of whether your coursework will be considered U of A transferable when it’s assessed by the admissions office. Your international transcripts do not need to be assessed by international approved services (IQAS, WES, etc.) as they will be assessed by the University of Alberta’s Registrar’s Office. Assessment of applications happens from March-June of every year. You will receive updates on your application during this time period. It is your responsibility to ensure that course descriptions are provided for any post-secondary coursework completed outside of Canada. See this international transcripts and documents website.

Can I use AP and/or IB courses to fulfill a pre-professional pharmacy course? - Faculty of Pharmacy (Undergraduate)
Advance Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) courses can be awarded as transfer credit for introductory university-level courses. The Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences PharmD program accepts AP and /or IB courses that have been awarded as university transfer credit to fulfill a prerequisite course. See AP Transfer Credit and IB Transfer Credit. Typically, upon your bachelors degree application, you'd submit an AP and/or IB official report to the registrar's office to be awarded university credit.

Can I retake a PharmD prerequisite course? - Faculty of Pharmacy (Undergraduate)
If you did not do well as you wanted in the Biological sciences prerequisite (human physiology, cell biology, microbiology, and biochemistry) despite passing, you can take a higher-level course. If you get a higher grade in a higher level course, we will use that grade in the Biological Sciences GPA calculation. If you did not do well as you wanted in the non-biological sciences prerequisite (English, Math, Statistics, Organic Chemistry, General Chemistry), you cannot retake the course unless you received a failing grade. Courses not completed at the University of Alberta must meet the minimum grade of C- to be considered for transfer. You do not need to take higher-level non-biological science courses to improve your grade despite achieving a minimum grade of C- in the original prerequisite attempt. We do not look at the specific grades of non-biological sciences prerequisites but they may be used in GPA calculations such as the most recent 2 year full time GPA or heaviest credit year GPA.
