Can I retake a PharmD prerequisite course? - Faculty of Pharmacy (Undergraduate)

If you did not do well as you wanted in the Biological sciences prerequisite (human physiology, cell biology, microbiology, and biochemistry) despite passing, you can take a higher-level course. If you get a higher grade in a higher level course, we will use that grade in the Biological Sciences GPA calculation.

If you did not do well as you wanted in the non-biological sciences prerequisite (English, Math, Statistics, Organic Chemistry, General Chemistry), you cannot retake the course unless you received a failing grade. Courses not completed at the University of Alberta must meet the minimum grade of C- to be considered for transfer. You do not need to take higher-level non-biological science courses to improve your grade despite achieving a minimum grade of C- in the original prerequisite attempt. We do not look at the specific grades of non-biological sciences prerequisites but they may be used in GPA calculations such as the most recent 2 year full time GPA or heaviest credit year GPA.
