Applicability
This article applies to eligible University of Alberta staff and faculty using Adobe Acrobat Studio on a Windows or Mac computer. For more information about Adobe software eligibility, please refer to Adobe Acrobat and Creative Cloud Eligibility for Faculty, Staff, and Students.
Before You Begin
- You must first obtain a free Adobe Acrobat Studio license through OnTheHub. If you have not yet requested your license, follow the instructions in Adobe Software - Requesting or Purchasing Through OnTheHub before proceeding.
- Use your primary University email address in the format CCID@ualberta.ca when signing in to Adobe. Do not use an email alias.
- If Adobe asks you to choose between a Personal Account and a Company or School Account, select Company or School Account.
- If Adobe Acrobat is already installed on your computer, you do not need to reinstall it. Proceed to Activate Your University Adobe License.
Installing Adobe Acrobat
If Adobe Acrobat is not already installed, follow the installation instructions for your operating system:
Activate Your University Adobe License
Once Adobe Acrobat is installed, use the following steps to sign in with your University Adobe account.
1. Open Adobe Acrobat.
2. If you are currently signed in to another Adobe account or profile, click your account/profile icon and sign out. Close Adobe Acrobat, then reopen it.

3. When prompted to sign in, enter your primary University email address in the format CCID@ualberta.ca, then click Continue.

4. If prompted to select an account type, choose Company or School Account.

5. If prompted, complete the University of Alberta sign-in using your CCID password and follow any additional sign-in prompts.

6. On the next screen, click Yes so that your account stays signed in for Adobe products on your computer

7. Once sign-in is complete, Adobe Acrobat should be ready to use with your University Adobe license.
Optional: Confirm Your University Adobe License
If you would like to confirm that Adobe Acrobat is using your University Adobe license:
1. Open Adobe Acrobat and click your account/profile icon in the upper-right corner.

2. Select Manage Account. Your web browser will open the Adobe account page.

3. Click your account/profile icon in the upper-right corner. Confirm that University of Alberta - IST ETLA appears under your account.

Note: If University of Alberta - IST ETLA is displayed, your University Adobe account is active and ready to use.
If You See a Personal Account
Some users may have previously created a Personal Adobe account using their University email address. If Adobe displays both Personal Account and Company or School Account, select Company or School Account to access your University-provided Adobe license.
Your Personal Account and University account are separate Adobe profiles even when the same email address is used.
Using Adobe Studio on More Than One Computer
Adobe Acrobat Studio can be activated on up to two computers. You can use Acrobat Studio on one computer at a time.
If you reach the device activation limit, see Adobe Acrobat Studio - Managing Your Device Activation Limit for instructions on deactivating another computer.
Troubleshooting
- Confirm that you are signing in with your primary CCID@ualberta.ca address rather than an email alias.
- If prompted to choose an account type, select Company or School Account.
- If you are signed in to a Personal Account, sign out, close Adobe Acrobat, reopen it, and sign in again using your University account.
- Confirm that University of Alberta - IST ETLA appears under your Adobe account.
