Introduction

This article outlines where and how multi-factor authentication (MFA) fobs can be picked up across campus. An MFA fob generates passcodes that can be used for authentication, and are an alternative to the Duo Security Mobile MFA app on a smartphone or other mobile device.

Applicability

This article provides information for any individual who is eligible for an MFA fob. You are eligible for an MFA fob if you have received the 'Enrol in multi-factor authentication (MFA)' email.

Procedure

IMPORTANT! 
- You must bring a ONECard or government photo ID when you go to pick up your MFA fob.
- Activating a fob takes 2 business days. If you require access immediately, please contact the Service Desk and request temporary access codes.

There are several pickup locations:

Main Campus
You can pick up an MFA fob at the textbook information desk on the lower level of the U of A Bookstore in the Students' Union Building.

Augustana
You can pick up an MFA fob at the service desk on the main floor in Founders Hall.

Campus St. Jean
Please contact csjtech@ualberta.ca to arrange pickup at Campus St. Jean.

Enterprise Square
Please fill out the Multi-factor Authentication Fob Request - Alternative Access Options form and set your location as 'Enterprise Square'. An analyst will contact you to arrange for you to receive a fob.

Not in the Edmonton Area
Please fill out the Multi-factor Authentication Fob Request - Alternative Access Options form and set your location as 'Not in the Edmonton Area'. An analyst will contact you to determine the best solution for your situation.
