Modified on: Mon, 23 Jun 2025 10:55 AM

Introduction

This article was created in response to incidents raised when users attempted to create a Google Group for a class, and found that the class section was not visible in iam.ualberta.ca

Applicability

The target audience for this article is anyone who is trying to create a Google Group for a class and have discovered that the class section is not visible in iam.ualberta.ca

Solution

Symptoms

You are attempting to create a Google Group for a class, but the class section is not visible in iam.ualberta.ca.

Cause

The department (also know as the academic organization) associated with the class is mismatched between the course catalog and the schedule of classes in Campus Solutions.

Resolution

Contact the teaching department of the class to inform them that the academic organization associated with the course and class are mismatched in Campus Solutions. A class scheduler can modify the academic organization in the schedule of classes. If the academic organization is incorrect on the course, the class scheduler can contact the Examinations and Timetabling unit in the Office of the Registrar for assistance.
