Install or Update a MATLAB Campus License
Introduction
"MATLAB is the high-level language and interactive environment used by millions of engineers and scientists worldwide. It lets users explore and visualize ideas and collaborate across disciplines including signal and image processing, communications, control systems, and computational finance." The MATLAB Total Academic Headcount (TAH) campus license allows campus-wide access free of charge for faculty, staff and students on university computers and personal computers. The Matlab TAH campus license includes 50 different toolboxes.
Faculty, staff and students are allowed multiple installations of this license.
This article describes how to obtain, install, and activate a Total Academic Headcount (TAH) Campus license.
Applicability
This article is written for anyone wishing to install, or update MATLAB using the TAH license and for IST analysts assisting with installation or updating.
Procedure
Purchase Matlab
1. Navigate to OnTheHub and locate Matlab under the Mathematics tab

2. Select the Matlab tile, then select Add to Cart

3. Select the shopping cart icon on the top right, then select Check Out and complete the check out process

Create A MathWorks Account
1. After completing your order, select Instructions

2. Next select the link at the top of the instructions page

3. Select Sign in to get started

4. Select the link under the email field to create a MathWorks account

5. Fill out the fields in the following form, then select Next

6. Wait while MathWorks creates your account

Download and Install Matlab
1. Once your account is created, select Get Started. If you have an existing account, log into MathWorks instead.

2. Select Install MATLAB at the top right of the page

3. Use the drop down arrow to select your operating system, then select Download for [Operating System]

4. Locate and run the installation file from your downloads folder
5. After the file has finished extracting, enter your UAlberta email and click Next

6. Log in using your CCID and password

7. Accept the license agreement, then select Next
8. Select your license, then select Next
9. To change the install location, select Browse, then choose a new folder, before selecting Next

10. If you require additional add-ons, check the box to the left of the listed product, before selecting Next

11. Select the first option to create a desktop shortcut before selecting Next

12. Verify your installation options, then select Begin Install. If you would like to make any adjustments, select one of the headings to go back to that page

Update Matlab
1. Launch Matlab
2. Select the Home tab

3. Select Help towards the top right

3. Select Check For Updates

4. If there is an available update, an Update button will appear. Select Update to begin the installation
