This article will explain how to connect to the University Wireless Service (UWS) with a computer running macOS while on-campus at the University of Alberta.
Applicability
The steps in the procedure below apply to anyone with a valid University of Alberta Campus Computing ID (CCID) wishing to connect to UWS from a macOS equipped computer.
Procedure
1. Click the wireless status icon at the top right of the macOS Menu Bar. It is typically located near the clock in the Status Bar. Locate UWS, and click on it to activate it.
2. In the pop-up window that appears, enter your CCID into the “Username” field, and your CCID password into the “Password” field. Make sure the box to “Remember this network” is checked. Click Join.
3. You may be prompted to accept a wirelessauth.ualberta.ca security certificate. Accept the security credentials to complete the connection process. You will then be connected to UWS.
Required Software versions (or better) to connect to UWS:
A minimum of Apple MacOS 10.13.6 will be required to connect to the UWS wireless network.
If your device does not meet this minimum requirement please use the Guest@UofA wireless network.
